Bought a modular marine overflow, and the bulkhead is attached to the internal skimmer.

I kind of assumed this part of the box lays flat on the glass, but it sticks out inside (seems like a pain to clean). And the external box will lay flat on the glass.

You see the weir then the bulk head, that’s the internal then a thin line (the template) thats where the glass would be.

My overflow is 100% internal so its a fairly large box on the corner of my tank. I drilled the tank and fabricated the overflow out of acrylic sheet myself. Its probably oversized, but I was a noob and too lazy to change it now lol. 8 years running smooth!

BTW it looks like what you have is an external overflow with an internal weir, not a true internal overflow.

Regarding cleaning, I’ve actually never cleaned my large overflow. Its just a permanent cryptic zone and doesn’t seem to hurt anything.

You’re probly right, I just didn’t want people to assume it was a hang on back type overflow. The internals such as yours doesn’t apply, but it’s nice to know the cryptic zone doesn’t complicate it too much.

This box I can probly fit a finger behind.. kind defeats the whole slim box build purpose. Not going to change it but figured I’d get other people’s opinions for future rigs
