Id give it a solid 7. Nice and open with enough sand bed space left for some corals. Makes the tank look bigger than it actually is. Here's mine before any corals just about a year ago

And here about a week ago

A sensible 7. It is not a pile of rocks but it doesn't have the height I prefer.

Um, I had to turn my tank lights on for a second, everything is sleeping. Its 10:30 in South Africa..

I rate yours a 6 it's not as original but still I like the tonga look. I also want to say that I have mine Hirt due to the fact that I want taller corals like leathers and gorgs so. But I understand what you mean

Kschweer you got 1 of scotts mag shelves - looks sweet!

I would roll about a 6-7 - like the idea and feel it will look great filled in. Only thing i would change myself is the white rock on right stucture. Looks like a tonga type shape rock? Branch? If it is i would get it sticking up into the water colum off of the left island. Gives a bit of 3 dimension look like i like.

I would rate yours at a 7, love the swim space, but I would perhaps add an extra couple of rocks.

I'm gonna add rocks near the left side of the right rock island thing. I want it to come out and I want some rare corals I don't know yet

Yea man. I just got it about 2 weeks ago maybe. I would definitely recommend it. Great quality and looks better in person. That magnet is scary strong it's not going anywhere. I needed some "height" on that side and it worked out great

I like it, I'd say 8. Only thing is that there aren't a lot of caves and things for fish and inverts to hide in. Here's mine

Thanks shep I'll rate yours an 8 a little tall for me and it would be nicer if in came closer to the front of the tank at the bottom and closer to the back near the top..

Never thought of that, that's a good idea. I might try it out when I upgrade next!

Nope.lol :) I wouldnt use it to build onto your existing structure blending in with it. I would use it to make another level to add to your structure coming up and off of. even if it looked out of place to begin with. The hardest thing to see when scaping (from what I have learned) is that it means nothing - you have to be able to envision an end product in the direction you want to finish. A full reef only resembles the actual structure but in no way shows any of the cool lil features we build in for the most part. That being said - who can wait 2-4 years to make a weird looking structure turn into an incredible placement of perfectly grown corals. Hence patience is a virtue and experience is something we get right after we need it :)

Take a look at your structure - (I am biased here because I am an sps junkie - so that is the example coral im thinking here) Your highest points all reach in general the same area half way up the tank.(which is awesome to allow room for coral growth up - and a mistake I made in going to high) but at that same time - it is now a flat platform acrossed your tank and as corals grow in this section you will see the lack of dimmension. I have never been a fan of the pile of rocks in a mountain up the back wall - but 1 thing it does benefit is having growing corals on a plain that is constantly in an upward building direction-if that makes sense. So taking that idea and turning it into a more unique build with islands, caves, arches, such as you have done here - and than taking away the look of platform growth with a single high point that reachs acrossed the tank and giving it dimension where here is a high point and here is a lower high point and this baby is way up there.lol

the corals you mentioned earlier change all this thought tho as they grow big round and tall and run very un-uniform if you know what i mean. Gorg and softie tanks seem to take on their own shape no matter how you put it together - some of my fav's.
A good example would be lesley's tank. Take away all the coral and there is a completely diff look with a pretty sweet scape from what I can picture( got any just rock pics Lesley) cause I see the 2 structures on the left with an over hang and cave along with the arch moving into what looks to be a pretty intricate structure mound build on the right with all as well. Many diff hieghts, levels peaks, and a few platforms for display. Now corals along with coraline on back glass blending the pic - take away from the real scape and allowing us to see it, but in the end your tank grows in how it does and the only thing we can really controll with our scapes is the diff levels and dimensions we make.

I'll play along as well because its only fair if im going to be giving my opinion and I like feeding threads even tho I think youve seen some of my scapes in your other thread Tank.Bro! will get a pic of the bare 90 up along with a grown in pic. Diggen the set up man - loved how you were able to just move that rock - miss those days - now i can only make certain moves in the tank but along the way i moved things all over.
