A pico is generally classified as one under 10 gals while a nano is within the 20-25 gallon range. Thereafter, its an aquarium at larger size.

Is the classification based on water volume it can hold when empty of anything else or actual water volume after displacement? I’m betting if I measured my water now after displacement that my 13.5 gallon nano would be actually holding 10 gallon or less.
