nothing crazy just figured I’d post the controller cabinet I finished building a few months ago. I didn’t put any hinges or door handles on this build because I wanted to maintain a similar look to the Red Sea stock cabinet in terms of its lack of noticeable hardware on the exterior walls. The door sits flush with the 2 side panels and it’s held into place with 8 countersunk magnets allowing me to fully remove the door from the cabinet.
I now have a ghl controller and kh director along with the slave dosing pumps but I’ve been 3d printing sleek looking shelving units to hang that gear under my lowboy which shares a sump with this redsea. I contemplated installing that in the cabinet but I wanted that to be more visually noticeable instead of tucking it away in the cabinet. Im not finished hanging controllers and stuff like that but I also installed the slide out panel for the redsea sump section so some will be installed there too.
Anyway here is the finished cabinet side by side with the display. I painted the outside glossy white and the inside glossy black like the redsea.
This was a cheap build overall. I didn’t buy anything fancy as far as the lumber and glass panel goes. Dont mind the mess I’m still organizing wires and deciding where certain things will go.
The white grommets are just pieces that I designed on the fly and I printed them and the pieces holding the dosing bottles that I’m temporarily using were also some of the things I 3d printed for this build. I always try to 3d print anything that I could in order to avoid having to purchase anything other than filament. For anyone who’s curious I use a bambulab printers and I usually stick with petg for the prints themselves.
