One month old tank is just diatoms. Will go away on its own in a few weeks. Diatoms can also have a snotty bubble appearance also in some
Thats what I am thinking. My phosphate is at .03 and nitrates at 10 ppm. Is there any snails I can use like maybe cerith snail? Thanks for you help man

You don't need cleaners for diatoms. It is normal and will go away on its own in a few weeks but now is the time to start building a diverse cleaner crew with snails, hermits, tuxedo urchins. But go slow and add to your cleaners as your ugly phases progress over the coming months. The first year will be filled with a variety of ugly phases.

So I got 3 asters snails 1 turbo snail and five blue leg hermits. I need maybe a cerith snail for sand bed unless you think there’s a better one? Also I checked nitrates since over feeding for an about a week I’ve came from 5 ppm to 10 ppm nitrates. I think I’m happy with 10ppm. Also phosphates are .03 as far as I can tell from salifert test. It’s a hard one to read. But there’s poop from the hermits and snails all over my sand bed. I need something to clean up the bed.
Diatoms.
Asters and turbo will 100 % def die from hunger on you in this new tank. Remember to feed the crabs.

Its not dinos. New tanks have a lot of silicates in sand and on rocks which is why the very first part of the ugly phases is diatoms typically starting the first month or so. Diatoms consume silicates. If you have silicates and diatoms in your tank which is normal there is no way you have dinos because diatoms outcompete dinos. In fact people fight dinos in their tank by dosing silicates to promote diatoms. Just maintain weekly water changes and stay the course. Diatoms go away when the silicate is used up unless you are not using RODI and have silicates in your water changes. The first year is challenging with ups and downs.

This is what it’s looking like now. I am using rodi water. I may need to change the di filter. Which could be where the silicates are coming from. I have 5 tds. I think I read somewhere in here that you can backwash di filters? Or was that something I must have mistaken? I attached a video and two pictures

Just diatoms, normal for new tank. TDS should be 0 not 5 so you are putting contaminants into your system with dirty RODI.

You better grab a beer and sit down because your tank is going to look 10x worse over the course of the next 12 months. It's just a normal tank evolution process and unavoidable. You can minimize it a bit if you add some real live wet ocean rock to Jumpstart your biome but the ugly phases will still come.

Take it easy, don't stress. Let it be and let it resolve on it's own. No snails please, they will die from hunger longterm in a new tank. If you want it to go away quicker, turn off the light. Let them be turned off for 3 months and then slowly start again.

I am, I also think my di filter needs to be changed as it is reading a bit high. Which is more than likely where the diatoms are coming from. I will probably get some pods.
