Posting here as they I didn't see a non photosynthetic thread. Mods if theres a better place please move it there.

I have 2 fathead orange dendro corals placed in the same tank, fed the same, same placement in the tank. Essentially all conditions are the same but I now have one that has grown 5 additional heads since I've owned it and the other is still a single head. Ive had both for 2 years and do not understand although healthy the one has not grown any heads. Any ideas what could be going on or if there is any way to promote/encourage growth. Any help is appreciated as I've been wondering this for months. I'll post pictures once the lights come back on.

Just keep feeding them when they are open. Not much else you can do. I started with 7 heads, and ended up with over 40 in a year. Vary the diet often, mine get 7+ different meals... mixed with aminos and crushed pellets.

Just give it time. If the single head is opening regularly, keep it fed and it will propagate eventually.

I have two types of this coral. I have little heads popping up around existing heads. I noticed after fragging, they start growing more.

I noticed this too. When I fragged the mother colony I went from a total head count of 27, to over 40 in just a few months.

My other colony has 40-50 heads. I can’t even tell if it’s growing new heads but I need to frag it soon and see.

Yea if u wait too long, it's much too scary trying to get a saw between the polyp base skeletons to get them apart. #learningcurve
