This is a very large snail that has been with me for a long time. I am not sure what type it is. It is pictured here next to an average size astrea snail.
April 2022: I decided to pull the tortuosa and another colony from the display to free up some room for the acros that have been waiting patiently on the rack.
June 2022: I removed the skimmer from the tank and added the Red Sea Reefmat 500. I removed the glass tops from the tank to allow for more aeration in the absence of the skimmer and to get more light to the acros. I moved the mp40 down on the right side glass so that it blows beneath the acrylic platform. 2 years of trapped detritus was lifted into the water column. The reef mat used 10 ft of roll in the 1st day. 2 weeks in and it is averaging 2 feet of roll used per day now.
I tested Nitrates and phosphates today. Nitrates were at 0.1 ppm and phosphate was 0.03 ppm. SG is 1.025, Alk is 10.9, CA is 400, MG is 1320. The last nitrate test before today was on 8/16/21 and was at 2 ppm.
