Shout out to Kreative Reefer for realizing I needed 2 overflow guards when I only ordered one. I'm excited to be able to raise my tank water level. The new media baskets look great as well. I'm still expecting a shipment from Dr. Reef soon so I decided I needed a little more fish habitat. I used some rubble rock to make some more nooks to hide in.

The anenome had a run in with the powerhead, the nem guard was on but he was stuck to it for a while. It looked pretty rough for a few days but seems to be recovering. It's been about a week post trauma. Frags still look good and the clown fish are doing well. They've shown no interest in the anenome. I've been tempted to add more coral but I need more fish to raise my Nitrates and Phosphates. We've been feeding very heavy and haven't really raised it at all.

You see, what had happened was....
I went to Petsmart and saw a heavily discounted 29g starter kit that was missing the lid and light. Perfect. I didn't want those anyways. So I replaced the 20g frag tank I had cycled with this. It currently has 5 hermits with a few trochus and astrea snails that were in the 20. I used some sand and bio blocks from the previous track so I think we're good to go.

I'm thinking of it being all inverts with some RFAs. I'm not thrilled with the aquascape but this is what I had laying around.

Main tank is chugging along. Zoas have a couple new polyps. The anemone has moved to the back of a rock of course but seems happy. I'm expecting more fish this week from Dr. Reef. I'm very excited. I'm debating if I still need another cave. For me inhabitants to hide in.

What all did you end up with for CUC? We’re to the point where we need to order some, but the pre-made set of them from Reef Cleaners for a 50 gallon display contained nearly 100 snails.

So I got a custom list from them. They suggested

18 Dwarf Cerith - tiny cleaners for the tight spaces the other species can't reach
8 Nassarius vibex
7 Florida Ceriths
1 Tiger Conch
7 Astraeas

I had to add more to get to the minimum. I added 3 trochus and 4 blue legged hermits. I accidentally ordered 7 extra FL cerith snails. I'm not sure what I actually have left. It was probably a little early to get the nassarius, I think I've lost most of those. I had issues with USPS shipping so I might recommend UPS overnight.

Thanks so much! I requested a custom list but it’s been a while, and I haven’t bothered messaging them about it just yet. I was wondering if our tank is old enough for some of the different types, so good to know about the nassarius. I think we started our tank right around the same time as you did.

I should add that I really wanted the tiger conch so you don't have to get one. But then you need to add more of the others and you wouldn't have an awesome conch. Gary is one of my wife's favorite members of the tank.

I got 2 frags yesterday at the LFS. Let's just call it my Father's day gift. The Duncan already has 4 smaller heads and the Acan has several too. The acan still seems a little angry, hopefully it opens up more today.

My fish arrived today. My dottyback looked a little rough. Flared gills, heavy breathing. I put him in a hospital tank with methylene blue. Now I literally can't find him. I guess he's hiding in the pvc somewhere. I'll turn the light on and look tomorrow. I don't really want to disturb him by looking too hard.

Midas Blenny and Royal Gramma seem to have found some homes. Now I just need my very small watchman goby to find his pistol shrimp.

The dottyback is looking better but still appears to be breathing rapidly. It's very hard to get a video of him in a blue tank.

Everyone else is looking good. I'm excited to get the new corals in but I'm still waiting out a QT period. My wife insisted on the Dory ornament because my toddler is currently obsessed with Finding Dory and I told her we couldn't get an actual hippo tang. The goby still hasn't found the pistol shrimp. Or he did and was kicked out. I did think I heard some snapping earlier today. If the shrimp won't let the goby in he may get moved to the invert tank.

My YWG and pistol finally paired overnight. I was way too excited when I saw that little goby had pop out of the shrimp's hole. The shrimp is already expanding territory now that he has a set of eyes. My clowns don't seem as excited about this as I am.

My midas blenny died yesterday. Sunday I noticed erratic swimming and poop hanging out of him. He also looked bloated but he was still eating. I switched to brine shrimp hoping he was just constipated. He was still eating yesterday around noon but when I got home at 5 he was laying in the sand breathing heavily and looked very gray. I moved him to a hospital tank but he didn't make it. I'm pretty disheartened with fish at the moment between the blenny and the dottyback that was sent to me with a deformity. I think I'll switch to buying from my LFS and quarantining at home.

All other tank inhabitants seem happy. I need to get a picture of my pistol shrimp who I feel is approaching lobster territory. I still have chronic low nitrates and Phosphates even with increased feedings. It's not a huge issue for my current coral but it does keep my sand looking brown with diatoms. I've ordered Plus-NP and Bacto Balance to hopefully get things in line. I'm really trying to stop buying frags so the ones in my invert only tank can be moved to the DT.

I haven't updated in a while. All critters seem to be doing well. My BTA split today. I wasn't expecting that. I got the Hydros Launch and xp8 connected to give me peace of mind when I go on vacation in a couple weeks. My new coral are 44 days into QT and most seem to be doing well in the 29g.
