was wanting to hear from people with cubes how they have their flow patterns set up, what issues to expect and to avoid and how they have resolved. Any input would be great!

Thanks!

What type of powerheads are you using and what are the dimensions of the tank? I don't personally have a cube, but it seems like people tend to have powerheads on opposite sides of the tank pointed slightly upwards and towards eachother.

I have a 45g cube, 24lx24hx18d. Right now I only have 3 maxi jets and that is what I will start off with and hopefully be able to upgrade to something like 1 or 2 mp10 vortechs in the future. I am planning to have an island in the center that is split down the middle and that is the thing that I am most confused about. If I have the facing each other the island will be in the middle disrupting the flow.

Nobody? Really? I would have thought this presented some challenges than a more traditional linear tank....
I have a 70G Cube. I have an island of rock in the middle of the tank so the fish can swim all around the structure. i was using MJ's but the flow was too harsh and blew too hard on the corals if I adjusted for the rocks. I just replaced with 2 Koralia Evolution. 1 1150 and 1 750. I put them down center on the back wall on each side pointing upwards so there is surface agitation. I also put them on a wavemaker so they are not on at the same time but rotating. The corals love it. My Duncans are now showing more color and opening up wide instead of blowing to one side. All the the other polyps are opening up well. I have mostly LPS and some softies.

Good question and following along. I have a 45 cube and currently have one vortech mp10 on the back. I'm contemplating a second one, but don't want too much flow.

I have a 24x24x12 cube and i just have 1 mp10. Its plenty of flow for my tank and i have strictly sps. I like how even on a constant speed the cube always has a chaotic flow. I use the. Ecosmart ntm mode and it works great, i have a really nice wave going. Makes for some happy acros!
