As some of you may know there was a significant world wide IT outage late last week that impacted a lot of things including the airlines, banking etc. I am curious to see if anyone has had any issues with some of their apps in the last few days?

Yesterday I went change the mat in my ReefMat 500 as it was almost out. The mat stopped because the sensor was saying it was empty which is normal. I go to work through the process on the ReefBeat app and it's not working. I have tried everything I cold try and that Red Sea recommends. Including completely resetting the ReefMat, deleting and re installing the app.

My old account disappeared so I had to make a new account. I am still completely unable to connect it to the app and set it up the way it's supposed to be. This is the message that keep getting despite verifying that everything is the way it says should be. I've reached out to RedSea support to get some help but I won't hear back from them Monday.

And you chose the reefmat in your wifi connection in system preferences. Sometimes if you wait too long, apple may reconnect to your household signal if it is stronger. Sorry not a expert in RS just spit balling. Also maybe disconnect your reefmatt from power for one minute?

The fix was simple, for everything but some windows 11 workstations.

I was alerted to a total outage in my work, and it took a out 25 minutes to get our critical infra back up (domain controllers, file servers, app servers, databases) and about 6 hours to check everything else on the server side, clean up the less critical.

So for the most part, I would imagine it would have beeb quick for most of them. However while I still like windows for infrastructure because it's easier to teach to other people, I would be a little surprised if any reefing apps are hosted in a windows environment, unless it wad something like a hyper VM host.

I assume all of the people behind these smart apps are all pretty good software engineers, and while I have met plenty of soft engineers who can't figure out infrastructure worth a dang, I would be a little surprised if something with fairly small staff running such a niche product with crucial reliance on uptime, would have been stuck long enough to be noticed, or at least after business hours started.

I'm sure most all of these are probably aws or azure, and using Unix infrastructure to host their front end infra, but that wouldn't mean that they didn't have some sort.of critical infrastructure that would be windows and have crowdstrike, but less likely.

Edit: I would like to add, I feel so bad for the techs out there dealing with windows 11 machines. Most of ours bitlocker wouldn't work in winRE so we had to give them a pxeboot server to boot everything to, to unlock the drives and manually delete the problem crowdstrike file. But there are soo many out there who don't have that level of admin support behind them and have been instructed to open all devices and use a USB mount to do the same process. All of you techs out there who got stuck with the bulk of the work on this one... Thank you for your service o7

I have tried that also, i've seen on some other threads where people had a similar issue that RedSea ultimately sent them a replacement control part so maybe that will be the outcome for me.
