Seems like coralvue likes to delete threads on their forums when you question their product.

Does anyone know if the kraken has an integrated full battery trickle shut down feature?

Trickle voltage should turn off when the battery is full, which in return keeps it from overcharging and potentially damaging the battery.

Not sure why they would delete a thread asking questions unless they were derogatory vs just looking for an answer to a question.
exactly how i asked it here is how i asked it there. not sure if it’s a glitch or whatever the case may be, checked again today and was gone. i stayed up for about an hour checking to see if i can get an answer before bed just because i wanted the battery connected.

It gives a mod warning at the bottom, that’s not cool if they’re checking post before making them public, or is it because i’m new. That still won’t justify my old post not showing.

Its standard for a lot of forums. For new users. Its to prevent bot spams.

I wanted to go lithium but also wanted the controller to do everything, for lithium i would need other devices and disable features which is the trickle.
I'm not saying this language is 100% proof but...

The Kraken charger is specifically designed for lead-acid batteries and doesn’t have the necessary built-in safety features to prevent overcharging lithium. Which leads me to believe is does have a cutoff for overcharging.

As for lithium, no you don't need anything extra. Just a few more steps.

There is not reason for trickle charging lithium. They are perfectly fine getting a constant charge then shutting off once full.

But wouldn’t i need the charger for that lithium battery since the trickle doesn’t work for that type of battery?

Sorry you are right on the lithium side. You would need a compatible charger for it to charge. I misread it thinking it disable certain features but it looks to disable the whole charging together with lithium. Now that is dumb considering lithium popularity.

Your looking at another $20 to use lithium with kraken. Not a major deal breaker. Just stupid design.

So Lithium Iron Phosphate and Lithium Ion don't typically have battery management built in. LiFePo4 often do (but no gurantee).

While Hydros does appear to have properly addressed this in their instructions regarding charging, it is still going to be confusing for many folks... I don't envy their position in trying to explain this and shed liability for misunderstanding that causes loss.
