Corals vs Corals...Fight!!! (w/ Pictures)

My pulsing Xenia rapidly increased in numbers at the top of my tank on this one rock. I wasn't really paying attention because I forgot that softies can release toxins. Then I see that the purple Monti Cap that was right next to the edge of that rock has a white spot about the size of a quarter on it's left edge. I didn't know what happened. In 1-2 weeks, the white spot spread over the whole piece and now it's mostly dead. After that, I went on a mission to remove the Xenia from elsewhere in the tank in the little spots where it has sprung up and also to remove a fair amount of it from that rock at the top of the tank. I'll see if I can get a picture tomorrow.

Sunset Monti vs Chilli pepper. Tie. No damage to either.

Xenia vs. Everyone (Red Dragon, Orange Setosa, others). Xenia is undefeated.

Yet another from a couple of weeks ago.

Hydnophora vs. Sunset Monti. Hydnophora wins.

On the positive side, I was surprised that the Monti appears to be recovering!

Not only have they been aggressive, but I've never seen them lose a fight... Lobophyllia
No sweepers, they just 'smell' another coral being close to them and attack.
I keep all of mine gathered in one spot of death in the tank as they don't seem to attack each other.

Just couple questions... do like species attack each other. For instance acan lord vs acan lord, echinata vs echinata, favia vs favia. Just for future reference.
I’ve got several acans grouped + a euphyllia garden less torches.

Getting a few chalices in tomorrow and heard they are pretty aggressive too. Contemplating placement

Usually like corals are okay together. As long as they are the exact same species. Usually.

This was taken after lights were out but during the day my bubble coral and torch went at it, bubble coral recovered by next day and torch is still a little small on one head. Poor guys

Update. I finally got iff my butt and tried to clean up the Xenia. I call this a win for me but we'll see in a month.

Could you put a coral that will attack it around where it clumps the most to kill it off?

I'm not sure what would kill off the xenia, everything I've read and personally seen is that the xenia simply grows on top of the other coral and seems immune to most other corals defenses.

I didn't get any pics because I was in such a rush, but my WWC Kingpin Chalice just earned a new name. Quake, destroyer of Trumpets. Not a surprising result, but crazy to see. I'm not sure if it was my fault the sand shifted or my clowns, but they got a little close and the chalice completely nuked the trumpet head.

+1 on topic. Very good awareness as many hobbyists make literally nests out of coral bunching and suffer these consequences.
Some of us get lucky with knowledge of which (as many do) corals have stingers and feeler extensions for night feeding. See my tank below ( a result of knowing which are the stingers). I have those isolated!
