I have a juvenile Convict Tang caught from a tidepool back around the Fourth of July and man does it go to town on GHA. I knew they were grazers but it's amazing how much it can go through especially given its size. Originally I strayed away from the idea of having a convict in my tank but this little dude is changed my mind completely! I can't wait for when I transfer it into my DT so it can mow everything down.

Got lucky and snagged a Banded Coral Shrimp as well as a Snakehead Cowrie as well. I ended up putting two of the three back and kept the stronger looking one. I guess I picked correctly since it made it through 30 days in coppersafe going through sheets of nori like nothing. I’ve heard wild convicts are a little tougher to get on prepared foods but this one pecks at TDO pellets as well.

I have been thinking of getting a Convict Tang to accompany my Yellow Tang, White Tail Bristletooth Tang, and Algae Blenny in tank clean-up duty. Please keep us updated on progress!
He strips rocks bare of algae, GHA especially. I have somewhat of a GHA outbreak at the moment so I put in one of the covered rocks with him in the holding tank. Gone within a day or so.
