Is it possible to switch from a freshwater to saltwater tank using an established FW tank? My thought would be to drain half of the 60 gallons and start mxing in the saltwater. Curious if this is possible or a disaster in the making? This would be a FOWLR tank

I would just empty it, clean it and start with good water and salt.....no reason to half a## it.

I can't really tell you why you shouldn't besides obvious reasons, but i would empty and clean it first.

Don't really see the advantage of leaving half the water in it. Should only cost you a few bucks for the saltwater unless its like 300gallon or something. and you are gonna cycle anyway so why leave half a tank of old water?
