I think they are nice and lively. They add life to a tank

I feel they are ok in someone elses tank.

I think they used to say that you need to add iodine to the tank to keep these growing? Maybe feed Nori?

I voted other, because I would say "GSP is reef safe with caution". I think it is a good starter coral, a good accent coral and a weed. If you know exactly what you're doing with it, you can use it to great effect. If you aren't careful, it can take over. Just like Xenia or Kenya trees, but I think GSP is a bit easier since you don't have to worry about it dropping frags that float around and settle elsewhere in your tank.

And apparently my clowns now like it.

I have the same problem with xenia and Kenya and zoas I have with GSP...if I am lucky enough to keep them alive, they don't grow. On the other hand, montipora, chalice, cyphastria, leptastria, Duncan's and discomas are all growing and look great. For some reason, my sailfin tang ate a huge stalk of xenia, otherwise it may have lived.

I use mine as accent and have both standard and branching type . I have never had an issue with GSP getting out of control as it has done for many

Agree. I had a large piece of GSP on a large rock (you can see it in my build thread). It survived many controller failures, many poor house sitters. It did not survive, though (all of it - some did) - after a week of temperature of 64 degrees. So did a large leather coral. I also have never had a problem with it spreading - since other corals tend to 'keep it in check'. If you put it on bare rock - it will keep spreading.

As others noted, it is a great accent coral. I think there are around 4-5 varieties.
I have 3. But the bright neon green is probably the nicest. There also is a branching / tubing variety of it. When placed and managed correctly really makes for a dramatic living lawn of flow.

I finally scraped all of them off the glass and overflows. Since then I think my Acros were looking better.

I don't have a picture at the moment, but my GSP is on a magnet frag holder on the back of my tank. i did so because I like it, but everyone said it spreads ferociously! I have a question though...Mine seems to have a large mass of what appears to be black 'roots' all around it. Is that its way of trying to spread? Is it attempting to send out 'runners'? Just not sure if I should let it keep sending those out or remove them? Honestly there's a lot. Looks like a 70's pornstar bush!!! I'll post a picture later when I am home from work.

I have always loved gsp. I have at least two varieties and love the way they move in the flow and look like a grass meadow. Plus little creatures love to live in them. Crabs, shrimp, fish.

They will take over if left to own devices and have proper parameters, but easy to control. I probably would not have a tank without some.

They are IMO a great starter piece but also a piece that a lot of people love. I love putting it on a back wall and letting it grow. My kids love it as well. It's not always about the cost of the coral but just sometimes something so simple adds so much to the tank!

I like green star polyps. I have two varieties in my tank. I don’t think I would ever get rid of it.
