So earlier today I used some cured dry rock and some new pieces that had been in my 2 month old tank that were wet and made an aquascape.
1: Should I worry about a big die off ammonia spike ?
I used a cheaper concrete alternative to E Marco 400 concrete . I used the cement on 2 places and rest of joints I used glue and putty, I am stumped on how much to clean off structure before putting back in tank before I loose a lot of die off and cause other issues.
2: If I allow the concrete to cure fully then wash out in tub can I put directly back into tank without serious repercussions?
How big of a hazard is this ? With understanding the longer the previous wet rock was out the more die off when put back in. Also I’m still in the ugly stage but coming out of it nicely due to refugium working well

Making another post isn't going to get faster replies.
As Randy homes Farley said it will drive up pH to use uncured cement. Seeing as you only glued them together as opposed to making complete Rock the drive up in pH will be less than if you made a complete rock structure. How much will it drive up? I don't think anybody knows. At this point I would probably put them in a tub for a couple of days and test your pH and alkalinity. That might give you some insight as to how much it's going to drive up your tank and possibly for how long.
Years ago I made five larger rocks using Portland cement and oyster shells and I let them sit in a freshwater stream for a good two or three months before I use them in a saltwater tank. Even after that time in the Stream it still drove up the pH some but it wasn't horrible. Good luck

Thanks for the reply. I will definitely put in a tub. I did this previously w existing aquascape after I cured and then heated tub w fish and circulation for 6 months, and kickstarted this tank w no measurable cycle.
I will take the ph swing into account and make my best reasoned decision thx.
Sorry I posted in the general reef discussion this time because I realized it was probably not an appropriate question for Randy after I posted it to his.
