Not sure if Neptune states if you should or shouldn’t and maybe they can comment on that, but they include a Calibration regent with every replacement regent kit, so would could presume you should.

One of the techs from Neptune’s when I opened a ticket for service in my trident for erroneous readings mainly in Ca and Dkh said:
“every time you change the 3 reagents you MUST perform a calibration, that’s why the calibrating solution it’s included with each reagents kit , not needed when replacing only DKH reagent from same kit” so it’s clear and simple for me, every two months when changing reagents I do the calibration and everything it’s been running flawlessly awesome, once a month do double testing with Salifert, Hanna and Red Sea, results are always in the same range Max 7-10 ppm difference in Ca and Mag and .05 in DKH. So Trident it’s a must in my experience and honestly it’s not because of the time doing manual test, it’s mostly because we think we know our systems and with the constant measures from trident you really start knowing the behavior from our systems, I never knew that changing GFO and Carbon gives fluctuations in the Alk, my highest Alk consumption isn’t at day as I tough for years is mostly during the evening (5pm-10pm) thanks to Trident, finally for me it’s not just saving time and hassle of manual testing elements, it really helps to finally understand and practice a more efficient and effective husbandry with our reefs and systems!!! How do you all go about calibrating the second bottle of alkalinity since the 1 bottle of calibration fluid was already used for the first bottles of reagents? Do I need to purchase another bottle of calibration?

The alkalinity solutions A and A from each kit are matched- meaning 100% identical, from the same batch of fluid. Therefor no calibration is required- just do the appropriate task and swap it in

Im going with what my expensive 'standalone' tester tells me. I could care less about the hanna testers, too much clutter. I go by trends on my trident, and I also 'judge' the readings by how my tank looks. I will re-test if i'm suspicious. I will say my trident is starting to 'drift' after 6 months of use. I think I need to clean the sample vile out.
Perfect example, woke up this morning to an alk reading of 9.52 (reg 9.0-9.1). Now I know thats false as my dosing hasnt changed, everything looks happy, and my containers look to be a normal level. Running a re-test now. Today might be the vile cleaning day.
