This is My fish after one day of intense light therapy for 4 hours in my backyard. Yesterday the beard was solid black but now it's turning white. It came about after he spent time in a dark sump while I was setting up another tank. I'd call it a fungus that thrives in the dark but dies in direct unfiltered sunlight.

I have the fish in a 10 gallon tank half full and today I added 5 gallons new water then siphoned off 5 gallons to vacuum uneaten food. This is to keep the ammonia level low because I'm not using any media to run the nitrogen cycle.

FYI: I'm a PT and wanted to let people to know that UV sterilizers work on bacteria also on fungus or viruses. I saw a post from 5 years ago where the person was trying lots of expensive meds and where others recommended freshwater dip when the meds failed.

I saw two different treads where both fish died. I'll keep everyone posted if and when my fish survives. I'm not asking for advice but rather sumply passing on a safe and effective tool for killing fish fungi.

I put water outside to heat it this way. It can get up to 85 easily with only solar heating!
