I have a clownfish that I cannot get to kick the ich. Seriously. Been treated for probably almost 60 days at this point and it still cannot get rid of ick. Been in fritz copper safe, a different tank with copper power, I don't get it. Any ideas?

Some background, clowns were originally in the reef tank, blue tank got it, passed it to the sailfin tang, royal gamma and diamond goby. We cleared all of them out of the tank and qt them. Used API super ick cure and it did not help. Put the tangs I'm qt with the clown. In another tank I have a trigger, emperor angel and the ich ridden clowns mates in copper power. Everybody is clear and shows no ich signs except the clown that I cannot seem to get to beat it.

TTM will break the life cycle or the parasite.

But whu isn't the copper working for this clown. All other fish seem healthy, no signs of ich - even the clown mate doesn't have it but this one in particular has had ich spots that have not gone away since the day it format showed up. I mean, they've gone away for a day or two or three and are back again.

How are you testing the copper? Have you maintained the proper dose the ENTIRE duration?

please post pics under white lighting to confirm ich as they easily get secondary bacterial lesions, often confused with ich

Pictures attached

I bought a Hannah copper checker but it arrived yesterday incomplete.. wonderful..

So I've used the recommended doseage based on the aquarium size and have done water changes with treated water accordingly.

I have an emperor angel in there with a niger trigger who are all being quarantined before going into the main tank. The day after we got the emperor straight out of the bag he had ich. The niger caught ick from our blue tang who was sharing the qt tank with originally. I see this could go on, long story short I've added a slightly light dosage because I did not want to effect the emperor and I've read they are sensitive to copper and heavy metals in the water.

If it is ich, as was mentioned, you need to maintain a therapeutic level of copper (above 2.0ppm; recommended target is 2.25-2.5ppm) - if it drops below that level, it's not effective.

If you've been maintaining it above that level, then it should clear the ich; if for some reason it doesn't, then you could try hyposalinity (1.009 instead of 1.026).

I'll leave it up to the disease experts to say for sure if it is ich or not though.
