I’ve tried for over 7 hours to catch this clown in my tank and I am just exhausted. It seems impossible to catch him. I got the help of 2 other experienced reefers to come over to try and catch him and we still were unable to get him. I tried getting him with a net, and a fish trap, but none of them worked. I’ve already killed one of my torches and damaged 2 other torches why trying to get him. I had to stop before I killed more corals. Please help.

Does he sleep in an accessible spot at night? I’ve found it’s much easier to catch them when all the lights are off. Just move slowly with the net.
Yes he sleeps in the back corner of my tank. He’s very timid when the net is in the water and senses it immediately

Yes, the nighttime raid is rhe best option. You can try using red light, as fish cannot see it as well as other bandwidths. That'll give you an edge. It may sense the net at first, but you may be able to herd it into the net coming in from the other side.

So sorry! I thought for sure you would get him at night. How many other fish and what size tank?
2 other fish. Tomini tang and a zebra damsel. I had a yellow tang too but the ich killed him. It’s a 100g

I tried catching him during my last water change when my water was drained, but still couldn’t get him.
Super easy. I caught the rest for the fish by just taking all the rocks out. The tank is a 450g with 3 massive islands of rocks! Just need a helper (or two) and 12hrs of time! ;)

Good luck.

Have you caught the other two? Realistically, unless you are going to take out all of the fish for copper treatment and let the tank run fallow to irradicate ich fully, it probably isn’t even worth it to catch the clownfish alone to treat, especially if he seems to be doing well.

I wanted to catch the clown first because he was the first fish I ever purchased and wanted him to have the best chance of surviving. I’m trying to catch the other 2 fish now
