Is it hard or soft, almost looks like sponge growth to me.

sponge growth
There quiet alot of it under the center piece of the rock work and towards the back, silly question but would they be sucking up nutrients? I do seem to have lowish nitrates (2/3ppm) even tho I feed decent amounts and no skimmer due to it being a nano tank

from what I’ve been told: harmless filter feed, likes to grow in dark corners of the tank and can take off if there’s a lotta silicates

Not directly. They're filter feeders so the detritus that would float around the tank and brake down into nutrients are taken in by them.

I see nothing to be concerned about. Just normal growth of things on a submerged rock.
