75 gallon is the best imo, its the cheapest and big enough to open a lot of options with fish yet small enough to not take up to much space in your home.

this is my favorite size as well!48x24x24 120 gallon imo is about the perfect starting mid size
40-75 imo are small tanks when we are talking saltwater, below 40 is a nano, and anything longer than a 4ft tank is large. I know a 125 can come in a 6ft tank, but that’s more floor space needed and swimming space for larger fish. Just my 2 pennies worth.I personally do not see a tank over 70 gallons as midsize. To me something in the 40 to 65 36” long tanks are midsize. In my opinion a 36” x 18” x 24” 65g makes the best mid sized tank.
24 wide is important for inhabitants and rock work.
