Setting up a new 100EXT and just filling it. As I reach the outlets water is flowing back into sump (nothing powered up yet)
I am wondering if I should stop and install a check valve. I am probably going to turn off the valves and see how much water I can add now that the water line is just below the outlets. I am guessing in the range of 15 gallons. If the pump went out or power outage I'm concerned the backlog would overflow the sump.
Wondering if anyone with an Innovative Marine has measured this out before? I see mixed answers on whether or not to use a check valve when I searched the forum. It seems like a it should be a standard safety option to me.

Wher e is the best place to buy plumbing?
I suppose I can go get something at home depot, but not sure.

Thanks, I appreciate any wisdom and input.

Home Depot or Lowe's for sure. If you want something with colors then BRS is easy. You can get the wye check valve there too easily. I think the check valve is very useful but you need to go into it knowing it is one more maintenance item, if it's not cleaned at some point the valve won't work. I do not know the 100ext so can't help you with the specifics but sure other people will jump in. I drilled a small hole on the return nozzle of mine too to break the syphon if power goes out. Always good to have redundancy.

IMO the only thing a check valve should be used for is to help prevent water from back flowing which will then cause the tube to fill with air which is noisy and depending on the return nozzle aim can cause over spray when the pump is turned back. I would never depend on a check to prevent a sump overflow.

Thanks. Did a full test this AM it's about 7-8 gallons that will back flow so the sump should handle as long as a siphon doesn't form, and i will keep the nozzles close to the surface. So if even 10 gallons goes the syphon should stop.
Where did you drill the hole?
