I've had this Chalice in one of the tanks at school for 3+ years and recently it has been bubbling it's flesh up. Originally I wasn't too concerned as I don't see any flesh recession around it, but I came in to work this morning and the bubble on top has gone from being <1/4" in size to at least 1" and began to "bubble" in another spot.

Any thoughts on what is going on? Should I try dipping the whole rock the chalice is on?

Reached out to a friend who had seen the same thing, saying it was a bacterial infection then recommended a dip in a mild iodine solution.

Immediately after the dip all of these "bubbles" deflated. An hour later they are back but about 1/2-2/3 the original size. I will dip again in the morning and see if they continue to improve or not.

Anyone else have opinions on what may be causing this?

Did another iodine dip this morning to see if it will help improve the chalice at all.

Here are the before/after photos of the dip:

It did the same thing yesterday when I dipped but it came back a little bit an hour later and overnight it seems to have gotten back closer to its original size.

I will keep updating as I treat.

Feel free to provide other theories/remedies if you've experienced something similar in a chalice before.

Did another dip this morning, when I was pulling the coral out of the 80 and into the dip I noticed a small hole, looks about the size of a common pen tip. I'm now wondering if that little hole is what is causing all my problems.
