Came home today and my anthias was missing part if his tail. A little worried wondering how this could have happened. I don't have any hermits or crabs. Stock list is 2 clowns and a dirty back. Could it have been my MP10?

I would suspect the dottyback, actually...especially if your gramma is missing. The gramma has a similar body shape, which may cause it to be more of a target for the dotty's aggression. If indeed it is aggressive, then that would explain the chunk missing from the anthias.

Well it was the Gramma. Found it hiding under a rock and it's tail was bit off, next morning it was lying on the sans bed. We're really bummed because liveaquaria and everywhere we read said there shouldn't be an issue.
We really liked the lol of the gramma and are wondering if you think it was just the fish and if we could possibly get another one and have success? This one was tiny like 1.5 inch. Think a larger one would be safe?

We'll here are updates on the Dino:
Really tuff stuff. Luckily we ID it before it got out of hand. We started with a 15 gal water change and siphoned out as much as possible. We then did a 3 day blackout. We read about peroxide dosing at 1ml/10 gal. I was worried so I just did 1ml for 2 days now am adding a ml a day until we hit 5. Then we will do another 15WC and slowly bring the PH to about 8.5. Corals took the treatment well except a hammer that took a beating.
Good news is we got to re aquascape and we like it a lot more! Here are some pics. Again sorry for the crappy quality. Hopefully getting the new IPhone 6 will help!

This is a very nice tank. I really love cubes. I have a 90, but is not rimless. I really like the style of your rimless. On a side note, my pair of clowns killed a blue/yellow damsel in my tank... They tend to be bullies from time to time... But so can dotties... Either way losing fish is no fun.

Yeah Not sure what to do about the clowns. They are great and have awesome personalities but I will have to get rid of them if I cant keep any other fish.
Update over thanksgiving beak. I built my own sump as the one I got with the tank was not to my liking. Main thing is I wanted a larger space for the refugium and a cleaner look. Here are some pictures.
Dino came back while I was away but it seemed to be not as thick and less stringy. Hopefully something I am doing is working. Plan to continue with water changes, siphoning, and plan to slowly raise my PH to about 8.6!

Well we are donating the clowns to our college today. They have a 4 year old 200g system with 3 beautiful nems so we think they will be happier and we will avoid aggression in the future. We found a great deal on a coral beauty that was in a tank and did well with LPS so we got it and its a model citizen! Just one day in its eating mysis and pellets, constantly picking off rocks but hasnt touched any of the LPS! She has been hanging out getting cleaned like crazy from our cleaner shrimp. Cool to see. When I was messing with the rocks the shrimp attempted to give me a little cleaning lol.
We plan to get 3 chromis, another gramma, and a cardinal this week to get some more life to the tank! Here are current pics, notice the aquascape changed again... cant seem to find something I like.

Well hello old friends!
I must apologize sincerely for our extended absence!!! We were trying to finish up college and it has been a crazy few months. I am excited to say that we are now both graduated and have our degrees. Our tank has had a long and hard journey as well but it is finally coming back to life. Here is the story if you want to read:
So basically we had our tank going well during Christmas time. We spent a month in Greece studying abroad while my roommate cared for our fish. I was very nervous but he was agood freind and I left him good directions. We came back to a dirty but lively tank. All our corals and fish had survived the month. I spent the entire day cleaning the tank, did a large water change got rid of algae ect. I went to bed exhausted from the work. I woke up the next morning and the tank was clean but upon closer look all our fish were lying dead on the sand bed. I was horrified and shocked and did not understand what happened. Upon investigating I saw that while I was cleaning the tank I had unplugged the return pump and somehow the heater had become unplugged. I felt the water and it was ice cold. I felt horrible and really hated myself for awhile. From there we deiced to wait until we were dont with school to get more fish.
When summer came around we were excited to move our tank to Maddie's parents house and get it going again. We moved it about a month before finals so we could give it time to cycle properly. When we came back from finals we were met with a cycled tank full of GHA and 0's on our test kit. We cleaned up and added 2 chromis and a beautiful snowflake clown which we got at our LFS. Added some CUC for the algae as well. Later that month out LFS had a sale on SPS and we ended up getting 5 frags for $50. They were small but i cant complain. A month after the first fish we ran into an alumni at our LFS that had coral for sale. He really hooked us up and for 80$ we got 3 2" frags of green,pink, and red monti as well as a large frag of star polyp, red digi, and some other random sps: ID any1? We added our next addition, a beautiful flame angel today and he is already grazing the LR and eating like a champ.
We have definetely learned many lessons about reefing over the last year. We now have a ATO with alarm as well as 2x heaters with temp alarm as well. We are consistent on our bi monthly 15% wc which has diminished the algae along with the cuc. The tank is happy and I believe we are starting to see some growth on the corals. Here are pics of the progression.

Sorry to hear about the deaths, glad to see you guys are back up and running! I just graduated 3 weeks ago myself. Really nice having the extra time to spend on the hobby. I also accepted a full time job as an Aquarist at a zoo so I'm now getting paid to do this! Look forward to seeing the tank progress, good luck guys
