I dont think so. Dart fish have a pelagic stage which I am pretty sure its very hard to breed them. I researched it years ago as I had a breeding pair of Helfrichi. I was hoping I could figure out a way to do it but for 1 collecting the fertilized eggs would be very hard to time and then the set up to keep them moving gently enough without moving parts would be very hard. The other part is supplying the correct type and size of food.My store claims to have captive bred firefish dartfish, Nemateleotris magnifica. Is this possible? I have never seen Biota or others offer dartfish.
I haven't heard of N. magnifica being bred, but I have seen N. decora bred before, and I haven't looked at the genus in awhile, so it's possible. I would guess the two species have pretty similar larval rearing requirements, but I may be wrong. My store claims to have captive bred firefish dartfish, Nemateleotris magnifica. Is this possible? Good idea, thank you. One thing is for certain their latest batches of firefish are very strong and healthy. They rarely loose any compared to most of the entire batch being weak and dying in the past. My friend bought 5 few weeks ago and they are doing great. Going to get a few for my tank!I haven't heard of N. magnifica being bred, but I have seen N. decora bred before, and I haven't looked at the genus in awhile, so it's possible. Anyway, it's possible, but I would think it unlikely - I would ask who the breeder is and if they can provide proof of the lineage.
