Been dealing with this nuisance for a month now. Turbos don’t seem to live long enough to keep it under control. I’ve been doing manual removals but it just keeps growing and growing. Any insights would be appreciated.

I’m dealing with the ugly phase myself, finally starting to make some headway. I got a gfo reactor to help with high phosphate levels. I’m no expert but seemed to start to help me. Others may have better advice

curious what your phosphate levels are at. Also may want to figure out why the turbos don’t last. If your salinity & other parameters are in check then try some other CUC snails/crabs. You can also knock down phosphates with gfo. Ultimately you want to get your nutrient levels down.

Just order test kits today. Picked up 5 Belize Turbo Snails and two lawnmower blennies.

I am curious, did you start with dry rock?
No, 1/2 of it was cured live rock from a LFS which didn’t have any of this algae break for almost a year and a half. The other 1/2 came with the tank that we got on offer up. So can’t really tell where the beginning of the breakout is coming from.

If you are at all half handy you can knock up a DIY algae scrubber for less than $20.. Bit of PVC , red leds and a small 12vdc pump and an acdc 1amp adaptor...give it a try
