Wow, that was quite a display. I've often thought it would be cool to have a large clam like that as the primary element in a display, but hadn't considered how difficult it would be to keep them from moving around, and the stress on the shell when putting them back in position.

Troy, would you consider doing a write up on your experiences keeping gigas? Not many people have grown them to this size. I have lots of questions but I don't want to further derail OPs thread. You mentioned spawning season. Very cool that you got it to spawn. I would love it if the write up included details about that, and about how seasonal it was, and how you kept it from crashing your tank when it happened.

Vanderbilt university had a pretty massive clam hosting two clowns right in the entrance to the gym. It was a pretty small tank too if i remember right. Not sure if there are any pics or if it is even there anymore though

I'm fine with unorthodox! Nobody can deny your success. Would seriously love to read an "everything I've learned about T. gigas" thread from you.
