I got this cabbage leather corral this week. It has a few stringy white bits coming off the top, and some whitish spikes. The spikes are mostly around the rim where there are what look like little pores, but there are also a bunch near the base? My best guesses from online searching were that they might be mucus and spicules, which both seem ok, but this is part of my first coral purchase and I'm not really sure what to look for. Any identification? Should I try removing them or anything?

It's supposed to be green/teal, and I'm not sure how much of this color is normal shipping related color loss, or a result of white lighting, or something else. I got 6 corals - the Yuma, Duncan, and Leptoseris have at least some color, but this guy and the two birds nests are pretty brown. How long should I expect for them to start showing some color of it's normal shipping related?

Thanks!

What type and size is your tank? Brown corals are usually indicating they are not getting enough light, turn your lights up if you can.

Leather corals also need good flow to help them shed, so put it in a higher light/higher flow area.
