ended up buying corals even though I said I wouldn’t. But £99 delivered for two nems, finger, blonde hair blue eyes and rastas. No choice lol.

Equipment Purchases
  • Skimmer Guardian
  • 2x 300w Titanium Heaters
  • 3500w sump pump
  • 2x 10k wavemakers
I have fitted the wavemakers there today. Probably could of went 13k (30s) but no biggy as if in long term more juice, it most likely be another angle instead of more power. That’s what telling self anyway.
Need get some decent time to do sump equipment, but would definitely be good to get UV back online and dial flows.
Think the next big project has to be the battery supply in garage. Inverter, big battery or 2 and trickle charger. Or creating proper pimped reef station.

tank not getting what she deserves, struggling even on once week. So turns into a major ever whip so don’t get to truly enjoy it as always doing too much in little time. Finally replaced the secondary pump. So powerful so now both pumps are running at minimum 30%. Looking forward to seeing uv back in play as glass an water just something a foot.
lost another wrasse. Melanurus disappeared into sand 28th and never saw. Came out of sand bed upside down struggling to breath. Wrasses for me have all died of an injury it seems. Might put me off another.
gonna do good few more water changes every week for while. Basically run out the bucket as it’s mix of sea salt and reef salt. And with nutrients bang on I think it’s my elements. So finish this salt and go for icp me thinks.
tank cannot keep lps or sps. Bubble tip nems never came back since light change.

Flame Angel
Is this gonna be the greatest decision or a shambles. I lost my two wrasse. And some what shaken by wrasses now as they were mint. This should be very active so hopefully does well with coral.
bristletooth being a prick as usual so put mirror up this morning. All I want to get in this tank now is dragonets. Might rehome bangaiis and bristletooth to make room down line, especially if he keeps this up.

Stable as. Numbers just ain’t moved since 1st June. Really was just a hard first year. Gorgonian alert on eBay found me this belter and I have went off the idea of bubble tip nem as they just move. So thought Duncan would be nice fit for top of dwarf tree. Matches nems but won’t move. £150 for this order all delivered and got free red people eaters so good order.
Hammer tree, torch tree, sps tree is the plan. Floating rocks not sure yet.

Made my first coral sale, from my frags from sump. Landmark occasion, always wanted to make wee bit here and there that would pay towards consumables :)

Struggling to make time, and then hauling butt. Plan is now 90mins every Wednesday without fail. Hopefully by next cycle or two I will be ahead and can then be proactive and reap rewards of tank. Tank is doing well, but can do better. Filter roller not missed as of yet, but everything can be better.

  • Dream is to sell and trade frags with fellow enthusiasts
This is a quote from my first post in this build thread. £150 from just a comment under a post saying I had mushrooms. Went dirt cheap and easily cud of been 200 if just stuck to price and £250 if did a post with good photos.

The goal of this really was to make it self sufficient, cover the cost of consumables like salt carbon etc, but ideally share knowledge and frag swap locally.

Anyway it forced me to do a frag session, which was great to do. Haven’t tried seen being a noob and this was an enjoyable experience. Great blade is key. Sump is set up for approx 20 shrooms and 40 frags. So be good to learn now how long it takes to go to barebone to in sell/swap position.

thought I’d take opp to buy sps frags, as I really want sps and tank is stable, everything good imo and I don’t see why I can’t keep beginner sps.

Week 80
BBCD5B5C-7B87-407B-AF28-CA153BC7A1EB.jpeg

I think I’m close to making this post per cycle. Nice round up of the four weeks, as that shud contain testing, upgrades, growth etc. Tank is still stable. Don’t get me wrong there’s stuff I’m not happy with and other things that just aren’t right. But boy am I glad we’re here. Long time coming. More corals bought don’t even talk to me.

Finally starting to alkalinity starting to drop. Tank time daily now is just feeding and if get chance that day will scrap/blast. 1-2hrs every week to keep the maintenance cycle. Hoping this is now. Have big improvements and more to add, but balance is ok at mo.

Got to go out shopping this month. Was looking for euphyllia. Purchased a frogspawn and couldn’t walk past a marine Betta lol.

Hmm, I thought something was afoot this cycle, sand bed (I did blame goby not being there anymore) and sps dying. Phosphate serious high. Probably highest I’ve ever had it. Was the weekly sock change really doing so much? Deal with it and move on. Made some adjustments and manual dosed lacl3 and salt.

Finally changed the heaters to my titanium heaters I got while back. Have a reef voucher and would like some snails / starfish in the tank. Will see what the post is like as lot of strikes. But I would like to do a moc order, cellar order and local fish shop. So that’s prob jan feb march.

Phosphate still an issue, sps be gone because of it. Everything else seems ok. Glass getting bad again where scraper ain’t keeping it.
