Hey guys, here is my second build thread in less than a year o_O, lately have been coming across some cool coral within my community and have ran into the problem of not having enough real estate in my first nano build. So in order to get a fix for my coral addiction, and with some time at home because of this Corona quarantine cr*p going on here in Chicago, I’ve decided to put up a frag system. Enjoy.

Tank: ZooMed 50 gallon Low Boy (awesome tank for the money. $150 drilled with bulkheads at my lfs) plumbed 1”

Stand: Custom built out of some 2x4s and plywood 50x29x38.(I’m not much of a carpenter, I’m a mechanic by trade so I went simple here. It’s in an extra room in my basement so it doesn’t have to be pretty)

Sump: 40g breeder with 2 baffles for a big refugium (don’t want any rock in the display)

Return pump: JeBao 4000 off of Amazon. Cheap, controllable and good reviews.

That’s about all I have gotten done this weekend. Going to try and get it filled and cycling by Monday. I’m going to be looking at probably a Jebao wavemaker and probably going to build a custom hybrid LED/T5 fixture. Debating on whether to try out amazon ViparSpectra black box LEDs or to wait and save some change for an AI or Kessil. Will also be patrolling local classified ads.

Nice! I look forward to setting up a 50g lowboy at some point in the future. I have two other builds currently in progress and I look forward to seeing this one come together for you!
