So I bought this bubble top maybe two weeks ago. 55 gallon tank weekly water changes all parameters are in check, I thought my issue was lighting but finally got a good light added it last night. It will look like this for a day and the randomly open back up and look normal and then it will do this again, third time it has done it. What is going on

A few things will cause this.......
If this is a new/newer tank, you want to place it in a tank of 4-6 months in age with stable water parameters
To0 much light brightness will cause them to shrink and too much flow causes them to hide.
Also check for elevated phosphate levels ( one reason to place in a maturing tank)

Would you say it’s dieing or just not happy?
I don’t want to loose my whole tank

Not happy but unless tweaks are made, will continue to decline. If new/newer tank, I would consider taking back to LFS

Well strange enough he looks a lot better now but he ate my long tentacle I googled and searched here and it says it can happen, the LTA is no where to be found and the BTA a lot larger

Alright I’d like to bump this post, ended up having two of my fish die, I presumed it was from my anemone dieing and releasing toxins, I will be the first to admit that I added an anemone to soon after this experience but my long tentacle was doing great! The bubble tip did ok for a short period of time the started shriveling up. One day I come home the bubble tip was in the sand where the long tentacle was and the long tentacle was gone. Fast forward upgraded my lighting did nothing to help. Once the two fish died I moved the BTA to a small quarntine tank and I thought it was dead… well it’s not dead but this is what it looks like when the lights have been off for a while, once I turn the lights on it always seems to shrivel up and look terrible. Any input????

You won't lose the whole tank if it dies.
Nems are 95% water.
I’m at a loss I had an ammonia spike after the long tentacle “dissapeared” took care of that everything back to normal, had two fish die removed the BTA, everything was good then had a Benny die today

The expansion and contraction of your Anemone is normal behavior.

Also now seeing what the bta looks like in the quarantine tank I’m not sure what to do with it ride it out in the little tank, add it back to the big??
By the looks of the rock and sand in your tank, I would say this is a brand new setup. I'm really not sure that you're ready to house an anemone yet.
IMO, take it back and try again in a couple months.

Why do you say by the looks of the rocks and sand don’t get me wrong it is fairly new and I did start too early but the sand and rocks were clean got super dirty then the clean up crew polished them up again
