Bubble King Skimmer

Does anyone know what is inside of the Bubble King skimmer Resonator? I just got one used and while cleaning I was getting Black soot like from carbon. When I looked inside I can't tell what it used to be but it's mush now. This is the Double Cone 180 Skimmer

I figured it out it's a cyndrical piece of foam. I just got it used today somehow it dissinegrated
