So i came home today from work and couldn't find my cleaner shrimp anywhere... i then saw deep inside my bubble coral this... (Pic attached.) Picture is not great but you can also clearly see the shrimps whiskers coming out of the coral.

My question is... has anyone heard of a bubble coral killing and eating a cleaner shrimp? Could it have died of natural causes and just fell onto the coral? (seems unlikly.)

I ask only as i don't want to put anything into my tank that this guy will want to eat.

Thanks Guys!

Welcome to R2R!

I am going to say that it's safe to say that your shrimp is fine as that looks like it might just be a shrimp molt. :)

You'll probably see your shrimp around the tank shortly. In my experience they hide after a fresh molt as a defense mechanism.

I know this post is 2 years old now, but found it because I just searched this online. My bubble coral didn’t eat my cleaner shrimp, but I just watched my cleaner shrimp get too close while scavenging around some rock and his antenna got grabbed by my bubble coral! The shrimp seemed to have to pull back to unlock itself from my corals grip! Made me wonder if there have been instances where a bubble coral has gotten a good grip on a cleaner shrimp and pulled it in …
