I feel like by mounting them that way and having them not encrust your missing out on some colors that you would only get from the flat encrusted bases.
I am not really worried about encrustment color. I have never been blown away by the corals encrustment color.

Like this....you would not get that green if no base or encrusting.

You will still get it in the actual coral base color. Doing it on plugs does nothing besides let it encrust downward instead of outwards.

I am no expert but if you look at the pic of Brads tank on the previous page you can see the coral still has base color if you are worried about that.

Ya they do still look good. What experience has he or you had with tabling? Does it need to have base go out?

The coral is still going to grow base but instead of to the side covering the rock it's downward on the plug. I am sure eventually it's going to grow to the rock but it's going to save you some space. When I talked to Brad about it he told me usually when the coral encrust to the edge of the plug it starts to grow new branches. I have experienced that as well and you can see it happening to one of his corals in that pic.

@bubbaque come on buddy, I need my daily dose of them amazing yellow tangs! :p
Haha. I’m really loving the group of yellow tangs. They go around grazing as a group which is pretty cool to watch. There is some tail slapping here and there but nothing too major.

I seen @aquavista99 said he’s going to add a group of yellow tangs to his display after going to Hawaii and seeing them.

I'm planning on trying 5 in an upgrade! Might be a little too ambitious though. ;)
