So I have 2 polyps of Nuclear Greens, my favorite paly by far. I noticed some algae growth and thought it was hair algae just growing on the plug and have been pulling it off outside the tank. Have a friend that came over (who knows more about this hobby than I do) and said it was briopsis. Don't know much about briopsis except I have heard it is real bad and not something you want.

So here's my dilema, do I chuck the plug (and my favorite palys) to prevent this from spreading or is there a way to beat this little pack of briopsis.

I'll work on a picture tomorrow, the lights are off now.

Thanks

I think I will chuck it, not worth the risk.
d.grinch if you lived in the Chicago area I'd chuck it your way :)

It took me forever to find these now I have to restart the hunt for Nuc Greens....argggg.... :)

That's an idea, I'll have to try that this weekend as a last ditch effort.

My fragging skills are not the best, I am freaking amazed I was able to frag my PPE's recently w/o any problems :)

Thanks for the tip....

How is the founder of this site doesn't have PPE's? Instead of a Premium Member option just make everyone donate a frag to you to have the pleasure of posting here :)

d-Are you ever on CMAS on RC?

I had bryopsys in my tank and lettuice nudis took care of it mostly, but it is still around. The dumb crap. Ugh.

I found it in my frag tank now too. I may have to order a few more nudis.

Who is the founder of this site and does not have PPE?
I just noticed Coralnutz you have Bryopsis Farmer under your name. Thats funny!
I enjoy nano reef and uberfrags.net. Mostly hang out here though. Great people and they know what they are talking about.

I can not believe you do not have PPE's. Not like a most wanted thread would not get you them so what are you waiting for?

I allso did not know you were the originator of this site--- I still will bust your balls when I get a chance but in a friendly way that makes this site great. No one is too hooked on themself to take a joke.

I had it for a long time, I would take a stiff toothbrush to the rocks outside the tank and stepped up the water changes and it has disappered. I would scrub the plug and spread a thin layer of glue down and seal it in after cleaning. Shouldn't be able to grow through the glue....

I got the spawn of evil on a donor coral a few years back, like you I though no big deal it is hair algae, nutrient managment and a cleaning crew and its gone, but it was bryso and like CN I tried everything including importing an odd urchin (common name Halloween urchin) who was supposed to love the stuff. Well he ate all the coraline off my rocks (no surprise) but has yet to ever touch that . We are in the process of nuking the tank. We have been making frags of all the corals. but the rock will have to go.
Nutrient control has little effect on the stuff (despite what many will tell you)
Get it out before it spreads or you will rue the day

Side note this tank is not connected nor any of its frags to any of the zoanthid research projects. its frag tank is isolated to insure no bryso is ever spread

hey guys...is there a way to tell the difference between Bryopsis and caulerpa? looking at google images, and can't really tell. bought a softball sized "caulerpa" from a LFS but someone on RC suggested that it might be Bryopsis... it does spread pretty fast though.
