I had 2 clownfish, of which I saw a few white dots last week. I fed them garlic food for a few days and it seemed to go away. yesterday it suddenly got worse and this morning they were dead, they were both completely covered in white dots. these were my only fish. I dont want to give up this beautiful hobby and Now my question is, how do I make sure that my aquarium is 'clean' again and that the white ich is removed. how long should i run fishless? and can this harm my coral?

Your corals will be fine, just keep the same light cycle and try to feed them every now and then since you won’t be feeding fish in there for a while, +1 on setting up the QT tank for the meantime… it’s never worth it to skip that step no matter how much you trust your fish shop

I would go 76 days minimum.
Understand that there are different life stages of the parasite that causes ich. eggs, larval, adults. So now that your fish have had ICH, there are parasites in your tank that are in different stages of life. You need to out-wait all of them before reintroducing any fish. warmer temps speeds up the life cycle of the ICH parasite.... so if you can, it would help if you increase temps in your tank while it is fallow too.

Garlic is not good, it is bad for them.

Tips Run tank fallow for 90 days

Coral will be fine

Get a QT tank so you can use copper

QT the fish

All the above, plus read up on threads dealing with fallow period, qt procedure, etc. It is not worth being in this hobby if you do not QT. Too heartbreaking, and bank-breaking...

well sorta... You can buy from QT sellers or if you really trust your LFS. Unless your very limited on space and or budget QT is always worth it though.

Thanks for all replies, I will think about how to set up a QT. For sure, for next 3 months no fish. Can i add new corals?

Technically anytime you add anything new to the aquarium this includes corals and inverts you need to start the clock over. Anything wet has the potential of brining unwanted parasites.
