Howdy!
I have a young tank and recently introduced 2 Ocellaris Clownfish and a bicolor Blenny.

The Blenny appears to have some loose skin, almost like a flimsy bubble or what a blister would look like on a human, on his head, but it’s not easy to see with the naked eye until you get close and he is still. Even more difficult to get a photo.

I found this old thread with a description that fits exactly, and a solution mentioned.

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2155206

I wanted to know if anyone could confirm this as the issue most likely and if there are any newer, more favorable remedies. This thread is 12 years old.

I do believe this is as good as I can do. But it does still show slightly.
Top right side of his head you can see very mild discoloration. In the first couple of photos, it shows to slightly protrude like a bubble or blister. Looking very closely with the naked eye, it can be seen waving in the flow like a loose film.

Perhaps these will be even better than the others I posted. Got the camera to focus better.

I can see that more clearly, but to be honest, I can’t say that this is any sort of parasitic issue - more likely a bump/contusion. The skin doesn’t appear broken, so this may be a minor issue.

There weren’t any pictures for that old thread I found either, but the description of it fits to a tee. And their fish did end up dying. The old thread said it was most likely a bacterial infection from bacteria commonly found on clownfish, which I have 2 of. So things line up with that thread in a very worrisome way.

Agree with Jay on anything that jumps out and although a hair thin, nothing of concern. Feed meaty foods such as LRS fish frenzy as it needs meats in addition to vegetation

There is not a bacteria disease that is common to clownfish. Clownfish get a protozoan disease called Brooklynella though. However, if your blenny had this, the clownfish would likely be showing symptoms of it as well.

I can’t access the old thread as I was “banned” from that site over a decade ago, before it eventually folded (grin).

Is your blenny showing ANY secondary symptoms; not eating well, scratching, rapid breathing?

It was very oddly worded in the old thread. But the words that came from a supposed recommended “expert” was that it was just a bacteria that was found on clownfish and doesn’t necessarily affect them.
I know zero about any of this so just trying to relay everything since it was so identical to my situation. They had clowns as well that were just fine apparently. And said that the Blenny appeared fine as well. Until he wasn’t lol.

Mine doesn’t seem to be stressed. It did seem like he scratched on some rocks a couple times but nothing that I could say is a consistent negative behavior yet.
