Would anyone be willing to help me out? My Blasto wellsi isn't looking too hot
These are my parameters:
- Nitrate (HR) 0.6
- Alk dkh 8.8
- Phos ppm (LR) 0.00
- pH 7.7-8.0
- Mg 1140-1110
- Ca 350-340
- Specific Gravity 1.024
- Temp :77.1 degrees F

A month ago it was doing amazing, popping out 15 new heads and looking brighter than ever.

I unfortunately dont take very good records of my parameters but I think that changes now.

For the record every time I *have* measured my Phos, *always* been quite low/untraceable, and none of my other corals are reacting this strongly. Phosphate has been undetectable for ALMOST 1 YEAR, and corals have been steady and doing well until very recently. Just confused. it doesn't add up.

Now it's receding so I'm a bit worried.

Cant take pics because lights are off, but I will update tomorrow.

Should I consider starting to dose phos?

Salinity is a tad low. Ideally should be between 1.025 and 1.026.

Calcium is low. Should be between 420-450.

Magnesium should be higher for LPS to remain their happiest. Recommendation is 1200-1400.

Nitrate and phosphate are both low. Nitrate should be around 10 ppm and phosphate around 0.05-0.1.

In my humble opinion, raising salinity slowly over the next two to three weeks with a couple of good water changes will help. It is possible that some traces are also low depending on your water change or dosing regimens. Also, please start dosing phosphate and nitrate or try restor and reef roids once a week (will feed your corals and at the same time increase phosphates and nitrates).

What par do you have them in? I almost lost a blasto colony because it was in too much light. Around 100-125 par on my sandbed. It continued to decline until I moved it under a shelf in the shade. Now it’s better than ever

Pics are always helpful if you can post one up.

Your coral are probably hungry for some po4.
I do agree to try some reef roids or just use more pellets or flake food. Feed the tank more and that feeds the fish and coral.

Salanity is at the bare minimum I like to keep my reef in. I shoot for 1.026 +/- 0.001

LPS, IMO, like magnesium. 1350ppm minimum.

Raising the salinity a bit will raise the ions also.

Lights, flow all play a part also. Post that up also.

As mentioned above, the parameters don't seem stable and you admit you haven't been keeping track.... The first thing is to get the parameters back in line and keep them stable.

Corals can take a long time to show effects of light or nutrient starvation. But tank pics will help show the overall health of the tank.
