Ok some time between new years eve and Jan 4 my blastamosa fell from its rock on to my cali torit. Now it seems that the blastamosa has begun to turn white on the head and bleach... It is a small head with several polyps underneither. My question is will it recover fully or will it always have a dead spot right in the middle.. @CastAway

Hmmm.

Corals eat, and in this instance the SPS may have fed upon the LPS. SPS will exude mesenterial filaments and literally ingest their neighbors.

As long as there is flesh on the blasto however, there is hope in my opinion. It could regrow over the very skeleton that is bare now. I have a bubble coral that has done that very thing.

I could be wrong though. We'll see what the experts say.

That would be +3 for me as well, If you have new polyps beneath the dead skeleton it will regrow.

I was thinking it might. I know they fight on the wild so. but it was crazy to see what it had done in that short of time. I have three other stalks of it. but it got the biggest and best looking one.

In this case I would have removed the piece and placed it in a solution of Lugols for a few minutes to clear up any chance of infection or damage.

I would say your safe, but be sure to be cautious of your water parameter. Hes gonna be on edge now, and a dead blasto is depressing. However if he does die my blasto is about to spread on the rocks; so you can have my frag when hes finished
