The sponge filter is an air driven filter from BRS. Sponge will be sort of your live rock where beneficial bacteria can populate. I keep one in the sump of my established tank JIC. it also helps keep water oxygenated when using some drugs that strip o2. https://www.bulkreefsupply.com/sponge-filter-hydra.html
Also, Copper Power is used by @HotRocks @4FordFamily as their copper source. I’ve used it in conjunction with Hanna Copper Checker and achieved amazing results. It’s liquid and scalable and they say it’s easier on fish. I used it on my qt with no problem.
You are right with HOB but you can use a regular pad filter to catch all the excess food/poop that happens.
Cheap power head to move water or break surface. I think mine were $12
And also, with water changes you will need to match the copper in the new water to the qt water, along with salinity, temp et al
I think you’ve got it. I’m no expert and believe me had my issues, but with the experts help I got through it.
Sponge filter... which size would you recommend for the 10g QT? And then, what air pump would you recommend?
HOB.... do you have a brand/size recommendation?
