I haven't owned a goni before... I dunno why, but they intimidate me

There are over 20 different different species of goniopora. And a lot of their intimidating reputation comes from people’s experience with one particular species of goniopora (stokesi).

Without boring you to death, I’d just tell you to give one a shot. They are so interesting and provide so much movement and beauty to a tank. You have a good chance of success if you stick to certain strains that have been successfully aquaculture and kept in captivity for long periods of time, like the ORA red Goni (and also make sure that your tank has higher nutrients).

Do it! It’s so nice watching them dance and then violently react when feeding on reef roids!

They can be finicky in my experience, but I guess any coral can be.
