Unsure of what to do for this. Freshwater dip? Lower salinity? Methylene blue?

Currently putting a drop of iodine on the affected eye as I did this with a blue damsel and it’s popeye disappeared within days after, although it did lose sight in that eye. Unsure if it was burns from the iodine or just too damaged to save from the popeye.

Confused on the gas bubbles inside.

Update: Unfortunately I wasn’t as careful as last time and he ended up inhaling the iodine, passed within a few minutes :( probably won’t try that again on an eye.

While gas bubble is possible, looks to be a result of an injury and best treatment in a separate tank is Maracyn as pictured below with added aeration

I unfortunately messed up with the iodine, I remember now that I held the last damsel upside down to prevent inhalation of the iodine, I held this one on it’s side. It has unfortunately passed. I’m unable to get a hold of Maracyn as of right now, but I will try to acquire some for future reference.

Thank you for your response

When clear bubbles show up in a case of popeye, it is very difficult to resolve that. I've tried surgery and I've tried a pressure chamber to reduce the bubble size, but it always seems to return.

The bubbles can be caused by severe trauma, but also from gas supersaturation. You can usually tell the if it is supersaturation as multiple fish will show signs, and you may see bubbles in the fish's fins.

Here is an article I wrote on fish eye health:

Thank you, this is unfortunate. I will watch the other fish in the system closely but it seems to be an isolated event. This article has a ton of great info
