Bad Marine Nitrate HR Reagent (HI782-0)

I submitted a completed form on the Hanna website but have yet to receive a response.

Nitrate HR Reagent lot #H034 with an expiration date of 06/2027 is defective

Roughly 50% of the packets from the box, about every other packet opened, are clumpy and moist within the packet. It is impossible to get all of the reagent in the vial as it is stuck to the sides of the foil packet. When used it creates an orange color, instead of the usual pink, and the results are well below that of a normal packet.

Today’s test
Normal packet - 17.5ppm
Defective packet - .7ppm

If someone from Hanna could provide assistance, that would be fantastic.

I have the same issue, same lot number. If the packet is clumpy or orange tinted, I toss it and get a new one.

Batch 062 isn’t as bad as that, but I had noticed it was a bit more clumpy than ideal.

Sorry your dealing with that, just happy I’m not alone. @Hanna Instruments how do we remedy this? Might need to recall and replace reagents.

whilst we are on the subject of Hanna not responding to emails.
I complained about them changing the Ammonia reagent set without sending out new instructions. Heard nothing, until I left a poor review.
@reefiniteasy perhaps try leaving a poor review. They seem to track that more than the emails.

That [email protected] is our main line for aquarium related questions and issues.
Emails anywhere else may not get to us.

Took several weeks and multiple emails but they replaced 3 boxes of reagent for me.

I had the same issue with lot H034 back in February. I emailed [email protected] and someone responded within 48 hours. I was sent replacement reagents within about 10 days.

I got a bad batch with lot 0261 exp 0928. I didn't think much of it because I've not used Hanna Nitrate checker untill recently.

Bad batch here with 210 exp 07/28. This is starting to get very frustrating
