ive considered switching salts to try a ULNS i run the opposite for now. I am wondering which, if either, are easier. Maybe two sided of the same coin? lol

In my experience low nutrients only begets instability. We’ve always aimed for 10-15ish no3 and .03-.08 po4. The best color and growth seems to be in that range and you don’t have to stress alk swings. Running low alk you are always stressed it is going to swing and dip dangerously low

Can't right now. The tank with the right conditions has an a****** of a massive pistol shrimp that buries anything near the bottom. He's already damaged several hammers. Waiting till I can get him out when I transfer part of that tank to a new one I'm setting up. The pistol can go in the softies nano where I don't really care what he gets up to.

Return pump baffle so it isn’t into semi stagnant water for best mixing and less chances at precipitation

they are the same genus but they can irritate each other. so if you see them "stick" to one another id keep an eye out but they are normally fine long term if they brush up
