Is it buried in the sand?
They don't bury themselves, no fairies or flashers do. They can be skittish at first and swim into an anemone but I doubt a rose anemone would be able to catch it.
BTA / Entacmaea quadricolor are not particularly aggressive. Do you possibly have a gorilla crab / pistol shrimp that may be picking fish off at night? I don't know your tank at all so cannot offer much advice but would suspect a predator of some sort, esp. if you've recently lost your clownfishes.
No cat in the house. I do have two dogs. They pretty much stay away from the tank unless I'm messing with it. That's not to say that if the fish jumped they wouldn't hear it or eat but not likely last night since they were put up during the disappearing timeframe. Also not in the overflow.If a pistol is pairing with a goby it is not likely one of the more aggressive pistols out there. Sure there is no jumping or didn't end up in the overflow? If the fairy wrasse was out for a month and suddenly gone something likely got it. Do you have a cat in the house perchance? An inquisitive dog?
