I’ve been dosing Kalk and need to add trace elements.

I have heard using a CaRx with Reborn (or similar product) , you pretty much have it all: Alk, Ca,and trace elements (release back from what the dead corals used)

Can I melt the Reborn and use the solution by:
Step
1) Place Reborn in a bucket. (With loose lid… not air tight).

2) Fill the bucket with RO DI WATER.

3) Inject CO2 gas to lower the water’s pH to melt Reborn (gently circulating the water via wavemaker).

4) Remove the solution “x” gallon each day and fill my ATO with it.

Will this work ?

(I don’t want to use a true CaRx or have room inside my stand)

Thanks.

I do not think such reactors add the right proportions of trace elements for most tanks. It only adds what goes into skeletons, not what goes into tissues.

It is possible that is sufficient, but it is not necessarily so for all tanks.

As to the specific question, the effluent from a CaCO3/CO2 reactor is unstable toward CO2 loss and reprecipitation of calcium carbonate. Thus, I do not recommend putting it into an ATO for later use.
