Are these the peppermint shrimp that eat Aiptasia?

Could I get a positive ID these are the right specie of peppermint shrimp that could/should eat aiptasia? These guys have no interest and it's right next door...plenty of it. My local pet store says they do and the only kind they know of...but we know this is an issue. I can't tell. Trying to decide if I should grab more or switch to a few nudibranch. Just concerned my damsels, emeralds, will eat them and they are $$$.

kinda hard to tell but they look like peppermint shrimp. Give them time or maybe the aptasia is too big. They might be better at prevention than removal.

Hard to tell but also be aware that some won’t eat apts even if the correct type, I had two, one loved them, cleared the tank in 2 weeks the other doesn’t touch them.

For me only wild caught ate them. IORA peppermints didn’t touch em.

Hopefully these picts are a little better. At the moment, trying to catch with the old bottle trick and move to a nano tank since I have 10 berghia nudibranchs coming and everything I read says (while they won't eat my aptasia) they will eat the nudis.

I had a tiny ricordia mushroom like very tiny one. I wooe up to it completely gone and lines are coming out of it. And peppermint shrimp near it. Did he eat it! I got peppermint shrimp from reeftopia to clean aiptasia and they did. But like they eat corals?

I would recommend Berghia Nudibranch since they only eat aiptasia. I have shipped 1000's of them to customers over the years and they always eat aiptasia.

Peppermint shrimp are hit or miss and you need to make sure you have the correct ones to begin with.

You are correct peppermint shrimp can definitely go after Berghias so good call on removing them from your tank.

I am not sure what size berghia you ordered. But if you need large sizes or more I also have them available all year round.

Roger copy and thanks. I ordered medium. Now I just need these peppermint to fall for the bottle trick. The nudi's were $$$$. But the aptasia is working their way into my zoas.

Great picture. I think I have 2. They are uptown and don't eat aptasia. Trying to get them out now to replace with nudibranchs. Thanks for the pict!

I've always been too cheap to try nudis. The fact they die after the aiptasia are gone was a turn off. That and my sixlines would probably eat them. My peppermints are very willing go into a bottle trap baited with a piece of shrimp. I move them back and forth between tanks catching them that way.

Just a sixline. I have two peppermints and a coral banded shrimp with no problems. I was little worried when I added the coral banded becuase it was pretty small but the wrasse didn't bother it.

Will have to grab a "piece". I'm using the frozen cubes...only gave it a day but they ain't going for it. Any difference from raw at grocery store vice something from local fish store?

Any will for for bait. Probably even a chunck of clam or similar. Ive only had luck with a chunk of food using a bottle trap for fish or shrimp.

Welp, ended up catching with net...specifically 3 nets . Now they are happily housed in Fluval EVO 5gl and my 75 gl main tank has 10 Bergia Nudibranch. Hoping for improvements on Aptasia over the next few months.

Hello, I bought two wurdenami shrimp, after acclimatization I put them in the aquarium, one was on a rock and tasted aiptasia. But since then I haven't seen any aiptasia eaten. They are hiding under rocks. But seller's aiptasia was eaten by them. I don't know what to do. I have a lot of small aiptasia. Berghia is not possible to buy in our country. Only fish, but wurdenami are one week in my reef.
