Are reef clubs dead?
Let’s first answer a couple questions to see.
1.Do we still like seeing trade show presentation and consuming educational content about the reefing hobby?
2. Do we still like seeing new products and seeing demonstrations about those products?
3. Do we still like seeing fellow hobbyist’s reef tanks and/or sharing your reef tank?
4. Do we still like knowing about trade shows and seeing when events are happening at LFS?
5. Do we still like making friends with other hobbyist, hanging out and talking to them?

We still like all this stuff right? The problem isn’t that we don’t like reef clubs! The problem is that reef clubs have struggled to stay relevant.

What if I told you that there is a club that’s doing all of it this stuff and that most of the time you don’t even have to leave your house to participate.

Are you In? We have a zoom meeting in 10 days.

The biggest thing that keeps me motivated in this hobby is having a community to share it with!

Super excited to hear her speak!

Carolina Reefing Community is excited to announce that Tia Davis will be our zoom meeting speaker for the month of November. You don’t want to miss her presentation “Nutrient Export” this November 17th at 8 PM EST.

Tia Davis, Marine Biologist
Graduating with honors with a Masters in Biology and a Bachelors in Marine Biology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Tia Davis has had plenty of field experience as well! She has worked a variety of amazing jobs, from one at the world's largest clownfish hatcheries to her current venture of Reddy Reef, which is a type of live rock meant to solve mineral issues in new tanks.

Carolina Reefing Community is our club. Tia Davis is the presenter, she developed Reddy Reef that is correct. We aren't selling anything. We are simply having Tia Davis do an educational talk about nutrient export. Tia Davis will be available to answer questions about Reddy Reef after the presentation if you have any.

The issue that killed Reef clubs is greed. Social medial inflated coral prices. Hobbyists no longer wanted to trade or give for free their frags. Instead, they want to try and get the prices online retailers are charging. In essence, Reef clubs were replaced by hobbyists vision of getting rich quick by selling their frags.

And why not skip the middle person ( reef club ) and continue trading and swapping between hobbyists
The only way to lower frag prices is to get rid of greed and focus on rebuilding reefs one frag at a time

This was what I was referring to about struggling to stay relevant. Frag swaps are absolutely dead, your right!
The other elements of a clubs that I listed are still desirable for hobbyist. Especially new hobbyist, they still need a place to plug in and there are people that still enjoy helping others.
