Hi everyone I’m in the process of building our 420 gallon reef. We did a little scaping in another tank to see what we thought we might do in the new one. Just thought we’d get a few opinions or comments on what our reef friends might think. Thanks for looking

Aquascaping is a subjective topic. What looks good to 1 may not be to the liking of another.

I personally prefer a more minimalistic Rockdale.

What sort of corals do you plan on keeping or is this a fish only tank?

I agree it is very subjective. I’ve been stressing out about my aquascape and rock work and type.
Like vertigo said depends on what corals your going with. I’m setting up a sps tank and will be leaving lots of room for coral growth.

I took like the minimalistic scape.

Check out this thread. https://www.reef2reef.com/ams/tips-and-tricks-on-creating-amazing-aquascapes.59/

I understand it’s whatever the one creating it likes. I just wanted some opinions. Given I will have a lot more space around this scape in the New tank since we’re making our 460 and this rock is in a 150 that I’m making into our sump/refugium. Thanks for the reply’s and links tho.

Also it’s a mixed reef LPS AND SPS

Sorry didn’t realize that was a 150. Might wanna make one side a little lower. Otherwise you’ll have plenty of space if that’s a 150 and that’s going into a 460. Look forward to your build thread!

Yeah thanks for your info. Sorry 420 not 460 but I’m still putting most of this scape to the back of the DT so I’ll have plenty of low space in the front. Plus the new tank is also 12” more in height.

That’s a ton of rock in there. You’ll want to leave room for fish and flow. Imagine every one of those rocks covered in algae. Fun times ahead!

Algaehenge.

Thanks for the advice and I like criticism but you did read that this rock is just staying cycled in this tank since it’s a 125 gallon and most of the rock will be placed in a 420 gallon DT correct? I’m sure there will be lots of room. There is almost 4” behind some of this rock now and with just the one wave maker in this tank there is flow everywhere. Did a sand test just to make sure of that. When it’s placed in the other tank with the other wave makers I’m pretty sure I’ll have lots of movement plus 12” more in height I’ll keep it posted.

I mean, without it in the 420, yeah
